Former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim could be named as PAS' candidate for the Oct 13 Port Dickson by-election.
Khalid is the former PKR treasurer-general, who was forced out of the MB position during the infamous Kajang Move in 2014. He later joined PAS.
According to Utusan Online, PAS might field the 72-year-old former corporate figure based on his clean and impressive track record as menteri besar.
Malaysiakini is attempting to contact Khalid for comment.
Meanwhile, PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim might also face another obstacle with regard to his bid to return to Parliament in the form of his former aide Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor.
Ezam, 54, was one of the instrumental figures during the Reformasi period.
Contacted later, the former PKR Youth chief told Malaysiakini that he has not made a decision on whether to contest.
“I have not made a decision. There is a big possibility I might not contest due to not being actively involved in politics for a long time.
“I just returned from Jakarta this morning. I will meet with those who are urging me to stand later today,” he added.
Previously, it was reported that an independent Stevie Chan and a PRM candidate would contest the seat.
The Port Dickson seat fell vacant after its incumbent from PKR Danyal Balagopal Abdullah stepped down earlier this month to pave the way for Anwar to contest in the by-election. - Mkini
