The Negeri Sembilan chapter of Bersatu has been dissolved due to a number of problems, said party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said this drastic step had been taken upon the advice of the Registrar of Societies.
"There were a lot of problems. The ROS advised us dissolve... and appoint a new leadership for the state," he told a press conference today.
Muhyiddin was coy when asked for details about the problems faced by Negeri Sembilan Bersatu.
"There were a lot of problems. There were police reports, press conferences... I don't want to share more," he said.
Coincidentally, this comes two days ahead of the nomination process for the Port Dickson by-election.
Muhyiddin said the party had appointed veteran politician Rais Yatim to rebuild Negeri Sembilan Bersatu.
Meanwhile, Bersatu also announced that Marzuki Yahya will replace Shahruddin Md Salleh as secretary-general.
Shahruddin is currently the Sri Gading MP and deputy federal territories minister. Marzuki is a senator and the deputy foreign minister.
