It’s the truth, ex-army man says on criticism of Mat Sabu

PETALING JAYA: The retired military officer who took to Facebook to air his criticism of Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu has defended his move, saying he was only stating the truth.
Maj Mior Rosli (Rtd), who was previously honorary secretary of the National Patriots Association (Patriot), told FMT he had yet to see “outstanding achievements” by the ministry although it had been in government for more than 100 days.
He said there were many problems in the ministry that needed to be addressed.
“When Pakatan Harapan won, I waited for the government to announce who would be the defence minister. Once they announced that it would be Mat Sabu, I contacted him straight away,” he said, referring to Mohamad.

“I listed all of the problems concerning the ministry that needed to be resolved by the new government, including the welfare of veterans. (But) he never responded to any of my calls.”
Mior admitted that Mat Sabu should be allowed to prove that he could handle the defence portfolio, adding however that there were limits to people’s patience.
He also criticised some of the statements given by the minister, calling them embarrassing as they appeared to have been made without proper research.
“Any statements given should be studied first to see whether they are relevant. But he just talks for the sake of giving statements. He says whatever he wants, and people laugh at him.
“He just blames the previous government which is easy for anyone to do.”
Mior also voiced disappointment over the text which Mat Sabu had read in Parliament, saying it was similar to that of the previous defence minister, Hishammuddin Hussein.
He said the people had chosen Mat Sabu as a leader in hopes that he could help fix the nation. However, he claimed Mat Sabu was far from achieving what was expected from him as a minister.
Mior’s former group Patriot has distanced itself from his remarks, stating that he is no longer affiliated with it.
However, Mior maintained that he would not back down on his criticism.
“People say that I am being too harsh, but that is what we should do so that government leaders are always on their toes.
“There is a reason why they were elected by the people.”
He said he would continue to criticise until he sees change in the ministry and a solution to all the problems. -FMT
