IPOH: A mudslide brought about by a heavy downpour has brought traffic to a standstill at KM42 on Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands.
At press time, half of the road was still closed to traffic as the mud was still flowing down the hill slope.
The rain has, however, stopped.
Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Services Department chief Mohd Hilmi Kashfi said that the incident happened at about 2.45pm after a heavy rain that began at about noon.
"A concrete retaining wall broke as a result of the rain, sending a river of mud water down the hill slope.
"No casualties were reported," he said here on Wednesday (Sept 26).
Mohd Hilmi also advised motorists heading to or from Cameron Highlands along the stretch to be careful, as work to clean up the debris from the road is still underway.- Star
