IGP: Cops yet to receive results of Adib's postmortem

Police have yet to receive the results of the postmortem on Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, says inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
Fuzi said this when asked to comment on the inquest into the cause of the firefighter's death.
"I do not want to comment on the inquest. Police also have yet to receive the full (postmortem) report," he told a press conference during a mass wedding ceremony for police personnel held at the Police Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
On Thursday, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said that he was informed by the attorney-general Tommy Thomas that an inquestwould be held to determine the cause of Adib's death.
According to Fuzi, the police investigation into the matter is still ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He added that police are now awaiting further instructions from the Attorney-General's Chambers after having submitted their investigation paper on Monday.
"We are trying our best to complete the probe as soon as possible so that those responsible (for Adib's death) can be brought to justice.
"The classification of the investigation is maintained under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
When asked whether police have rearrested the four suspects previously held over Adib's alleged assault during last month's Seafield temple riots, Fuzi replied in the negative.
The IGP pointed out that the number of arrests over the temple fracas remained at 108, of which 26 have been charged in court with various offences.
He added that more charges are expected next week, but that this would depend on the deputy public prosecutor.
"Police are also hoping for the public's assistance to identify more than 50 other people whose photos we have released (over the temple rioting incidents).
"So far, from the total of 66 people in the photographs, only some 10 have come forward or managed to be identified."
Fuzi also called for the public to remain calm and refrain from speculating on the case, saying that such actions would only serve to heighten tensions. - Mkini
