PETALING JAYA: Six areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8am on Sunday (Sept 27), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
In Johor, four areas breached the unhealthy threshold: Kota Tinggi (164), Pasir Gudang (163), Pengerang (161) and Larkin (156).
In Sarawak, IPD Serian recorded 151 while Sri Aman recorded 126.
Among the areas with the highest moderate readings were Kuching in Sarawak (98), Rompin in Pahang (87), Samarahan in Sarawak (86), Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (82) and Batu Pahat in Johor (81).
Shah Alam in Selangor (75), Paka in Terengganu (75), Bintulu in Sarawak (75), Kemaman in Terengganu (74) and Politeknik Kota Kinabalu in Sabah (74) also recorded elevated moderate readings.
Meanwhile, 55 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while seven areas recorded good readings - Alor Setar in Kedah (42), Kota Bharu in Kelantan (39), Kangar in Perlis (37), Temerloh in Pahang (35), Besut in Terengganu (35), Tanah Merah in Kelantan (33) and Langkawi in Kedah (26).
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. - Star
