Flash floods in Klang Valley after evening downpour

PETALING JAYA:

Several parts of the Klang Valley were hit by flash floods following this evening’s downpour, causing water-logged roads and traffic congestion.

Malaysians took to social media to notify one another about flash floods in the Kuala Lumpur city centre, Bangsar, Damansara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Kajang, Berita Harian reported.

There were also reports of flash floods in parts of southern Selangor, including Bangi, Bandar Seri Putra, Bukit Mahkota, and main routes towards Nilai 3.

The weekend traffic congestion was worsened by the effects of the rainfall, including along roads like Jalan Bukit Pantai and Jalan Damansara.

Separately, Bernama quoted the meteorological department as forecasting thunderstorms across most of the country, except Melaka, until 8pm today.

It said adverse weather was forecast over the entire Klang Valley as well as other parts of Selangor.

Also affected are Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. - FMT
