Student death prompts calls for transparent probe, stern action

KUALA LUMPUR: The death of a Form Two student in Kuala Pilah has prompted calls for a thorough investigation into alleged bullying.

The student was found unconscious at the school hostel before being taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN), where he was pronounced dead.

Former Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, in a post on Threads, conveyed his condolences to the student's family and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation without compromise.

"The authorities must investigate this case transparently and thoroughly over allegations that the victim was bullied to ensure justice for the deceased and his family," he said.

Echoing the call, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman and Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki also expressed his condolences and described bullying in educational institutions as an issue that could not be compromised.

He urged the authorities and Education Ministry to take swift and firm action against anyone found to be involved.

Earlier, posts on social media claimed that a Form Two student, had died yesterday, with family members alleging that the victim had been assaulted while at the school hostel.

The matter was shared by a woman who claimed to be the victim's aunt in several posts on Threads since last night.

According to the woman, she was informed of her nephew's death after receiving a call from her sibling, who was also the victim's mother.

In subsequent posts, she claimed that the victim's remains were initially at Kuala Pilah Hospital before being taken to a hospital in Seremban for a post-mortem. - NST
