BN rep rips Azmin for not defending sultan against Dr M

BN's Kuang assemblyperson Abdul Shukur Idrus took aime at Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali for purportedly failing to come to the defence of Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
This followed the Selangor ruler expressing his displeasure at Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad's "Bugis pirate" comment, pointing out that the Selangor sultanate also has a Bugis bloodline.
Azmin is also Pakatan Harapan deputy president.
"Our head of state felt insulted and convened a royal council meeting. The head of state was angry.
"But I would like to ask, what is the menteri besar's stance? He can't possibly just stay silent," Shukur told the Selangor assembly while debating the state budget.
To date, Shukor said he had yet to hear any response from Azmin.
"The head of state is angry, but it appears our menteri besar has no response, nor has taken any action to defend him," he added.
Shukur also urged Azmin to take stern action against Mahathir.
Earlier, he had tried to table an emergency motion to debate the "Bugis" controversy, which was rejected by house speaker Hannah Yeoh on the grounds that the matter was under police investigation.
Shukor, in his debate, accused Mahathir of insinuating that the royals were pirates.
Mahathir denied he intended to insult the Bugis community, claiming the comment he made at the "Sayangi Malaysia, Hapus Kleptokrasi" rally in Petaling Jaya on Oct 14 was directed specifically at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.- Mkini
