My comments :  This reminds me of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989.  For seven years the Soviets reigned quite supreme over Afghanistan. Their MI series helicopter gunship aka the flying tanks, could destroy entire Afghan villages in seconds. 

Then finally in 1986 the first US made shoulder fired Stinger missiles were delivered to the Afghan Mujahideen. They blasted the Soviet helicopters out of the sky. The Soviets left Afghanistan in 1989.

The same thing seems to be happening in Yemen. The Yemenis now have SAMs at their disposal which can shoot down Saudi jet fighters and American Reaper drones. 

They have fired ballistic missiles TWICE now which have accurately reached specific targets in Riyadh, the Saudi capital which is over 1200 km distant. This is a major strategic achievement by the Houthis.  

The Saudi oilfields are located much nearer in eastern Saudi Arabia, less than 500 km from Yemen.

The Houthis have very few of the SAM missiles as well as the ballistic missiles. But as is always the case, as war drags on, more and more weapons will become available. There are willing and capable sponsors who are always ready to help the underdogs. 

Saudi Arabia is in trouble.

Hence Donald Trump is using this opportunity to squeeze Saudi Arabia. This is Trump's deal.

If the Saudis want the US to be their protector and saviour, then the Saudis must make reforms.

Allow women to drive, allow women to jog in sports bras in a brand new entertainemnt city etc. 

What Saudi Arabia really needs is to abolish the Wahhabi satanism - their version of devil worship.

Plus a democratic government may also help.
