'Sex predator': Man claims to have 60 audio clips, reveals 3-week sting

A man has claimed that he possesses 60 audio recordings of a former MIC branch chairperson who is accused of offering favours in return for sex, including with teenagers.
In a video circulating via messaging system WhatsApp, the man also revealed that the former branch leader had been "trapped" following a three-week-long sting.
He was referring to the recording of the MIC man's telephone conversation with a woman, in which he promised a job for her daughter in exchange for sex with the latter.
"I happen to know the victim's family. The woman in the audio clip is a single mother and although suffering from poverty, she managed to educate her daughter to the point of getting a degree.
"The girl found it difficult to get a job despite going for 20 to 30 interviews. This is when the family came across the accused, who promised to help out," the man said in Tamil.
According to him, when the 56-year-old Tamil school teacher first made the "indecent proposal" to the girl's mother, about three weeks ago, she had told him off.
Lured to MIC HQ
However, it was the man in the video who convinced the mother to continue engaging with the accused in order to secure evidence against him.
Following this, the man said, he sought the help of a friend, who is the son of a senior MIC leader, and the latter, upon hearing the recordings, agreed that action should be taken against the accused.
He said for the last three weeks, a "trap" was set, with each conversation with the suspect recorded.
He added that various attempts were made to meet the accused but he failed to turn up until he showed up at the MIC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The man said when the suspect was eventually "caught", the affected mother refused to come forward or lodge a police report.
"She told me she does not want to get involved or lodge a police report. She was worried that if the matter was reported, it would be highlighted in the media, causing embarrassment to the family. She told me to handle the matter," he added.
Reports lodged
As for her daughter, the man said she has been asked to attend an interview with a government-linked company, following the intervention of MIC leaders.
News of the "sex for favour" scandal has made headlines over the past two days, following the widespread circulation of the audio recordings.
In one of the recordings circulated, the accused boasts that he helped numerous girls who had just completed their SPM examination to secure jobs after sleeping with him.
"Please tell me the timing and where, and how long the session can last. If she's not interested, please tell me, I will drop this offer, as there are a lot of other girls waiting," he told the mother.
MIC members have since lodged police reports, nationwide, against the accused.
