The number of hillslope development projects approved in Penang by the DAP-led state government is eight times higher than when the state was under BN administration, MIC president Dr S Subramaniam said today.
“The cabinet was told that within a short span of time, hillslope development projects were approved seven to eight times more than what that approved by BN.
“This has led to the environment being destroyed as well as other disasters happening,” he was quoted as saying by the BN Backbenchers Council (BNBBC) portal.
Penang faced its worst floods on Nov 4 and 5, which claimed seven lives.
Meanwhile, Subramaniam, who is also the health minister, said that medical services were provided without disturbances during the disaster.
“We have a standard operating procedure when facing floods.
“Apart from providing emergency services, health teams will provide aid at flood evacuation centres,” he said.-- Mkini
