Ti: MCA Youth chief was reminding Guan Eng of his past deeds, words

MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon was merely reminding Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that he should not have belittled BN parties in the past, according to MCA publicity spokesperson Ti Lian Ker.
He was commenting on Chong's remarks during the MCA annual general assembly over the weekend, which ignited a firestorm of protest.
Chong had said that despite his “tokong (deity)-like status”, Lim was unable to resolve the flood woes in his state. He has since apologised.
However, Ti noted how Lim and DAP had in the past exploited unfortunate incidents for political mileage, such as the disappearance of MH370.
“(They) were telling the whole world this was the doing of an irresponsible BN and that the world should not trust the BN government.
“This was done in poor taste and with disregard to the pain and suffering of the families who lost their loved ones,” he said, providing a link to a YouTube video on the issue.
Ti also pointed out how in the past, Lim, when Pahang was hit by floods, had claimed DAP would solve flooding and irrigation problems in the state if the opposition won the election.
“He had spoken in such a condescending manner at a time when others were reaching out to help and render assistance to the flood victims. He had again arrogantly dismissed the possibility of an 'act of God' or to be sympathetic and compassionate towards the victims.
“During the Kelantan flood, Lim's father Kit Siang put on a show and media display of travelling all the way to Kelantan in the first time political roadshow of compassion unlike DAP or its political culture of exaggeration and hostility,” he added.
Ti said it was in this context that Chong reminded the Penang chief minister to exercise humility as tragedies cannot be predicted.
“For this reminder, Chong was painted as uncouth, disrespectful and told to resign.
“If we were to follow the above reasoning and justification, Lim should have resigned on several occasions,” he added.
Ti said MCA has urged all quarters to take a step back from politics and to respect the victims of the Penang flood.
He said this was exemplified by both Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, who visited the affected areas and mobilised both party and government apparatuses to lend assistance to Penang.
“This is also a timely reminder to DAP and Lim that they should not have politicised the missing MH370, the floods in Kelantan and Pahang purely to score political points,” he added.- Mkini
