First time investigated for submitting memo, rues DAP Youth chief

DAP Youth chief Wong Kah Woh is puzzled over the police's decision to investigate him and two other Pakatan Harapan Youth leaders over a gathering at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) headquarters in Putrajaya last month.
The Canning assemblyperson, who spent about 40 minutes at the Putrajaya district police headquarters today for his statement to be recorded, said this is the first time he is being investigated for submitting a memorandum.
"As a politician, I have submitted memorandums to various government agencies numerous times.
"Why waste your time probing something which is not against the law, don't you have other things to do ?" he asked the police.
He also told Malaysiakini that the police did not inform him under what section the case is being investigated or if the trio were suspects or witnesses.
Apart from Wong, Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sani Hamzan's statement was also recorded. The other Harapan Youth leader under investigation is Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.
Contacted later, Putrajaya police Rosly Hassan said the Harapan Youth leaders are being investigated under Section 9 of the Peaceful Assembly Act.
He said this is because the three had allegedly failed to notify the police about the gathering in 10 days.
"When a group of two or five gather at a place, that is a gathering. And they did not notify the OCPD (district police chief)," he told Malaysiakini.
Rosly said the police would submit their investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers, which in turn would decide the next course of action.
On Feb 21, it was reported that a group of 50 Harapan Youth representatives in Putrajaya to submit a memorandum to the ROS with regard to the opposition coalition's registration. -Mkini
