Azmin: Civil servants may get more than 3 months bonus if Harapan wins

GE14 | Selangor caretaker Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has told civil servants that they might receive more than three months bonus if Pakatan Harapan continues to administer the state after the coming general election.
"The three months (bonus) is really not that much. But it is fair, and after this, maybe more than three months (bonus will be given), in the name of fairness and based on merit and performance (of civil servants)," he said.
In announcing the state budget last year, Azmin had declared three months' bonus for all civil servants in the state, involving an allocation of RM94.65 million.
He was speaking at a function in Shah Alam today, held in appreciation of the state's civil servants.
Azmin said the bonus would be a way of recognising the contribution and appreciating the commitment of the civil servants towards the state's economic growth.
The PKR vice-president also dismissed his pledge as being "election sweets", as what he said the federal government practices.
"I don't make promises as the general election approaches. I also don't gather civil servants and pledge various initiatives.
"This programme (the award ceremony) was conceived much earlier," he said.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had last week announced a bonus salary increment, equivalent to one annual raise, for all civil servants, effective July 1.
The payout will involve a cost of RM1.46 billion. - Mkini
