Salahuddin to take a second crack at unseating Nur Jazlan

GE14 | Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub is set to take a second crack at unseating Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamed, the caretaker deputy home minister.
Amanah today confirmed Salahuddin's candidacy in the parliamentary seat of Pulai, which Nur Jazlan has held for three terms.
In the last general election, Salahuddin, then contesting under PAS, dramatically slashed Nur Jazlan's majority, but still fell short of unseating him.
Nur Jazlan retained the seat with a 3,226-vote majority. He had won by a whopping 20,449 vote-majority in the 2008 general election.
However, it is expected to be an uphill battle for Salahuddin, as he must not only take on BN's Nur Jazlan, but also his former party PAS.
At an announcement in Batu Pahat today, Johor Amanah commissioner Aminolhuda Hassan announced that Salahuddin will also be contesting a state seat, namely Simpang Jeram (formerly Sungai Abong).
PAS captured the state seat in the last general election by a 3,813-vote majority. The seat is located within the parliamentary seat of Bakri, which is held by DAP.
As in Pulai, Salahuddin is expected to clash with both BN and PAS there.
Salahuddin was among 13 Johor candidates unveiled by Amanah today, according to Bernama.
Aminolhuda, meanwhile, will defend his state seat of Parit Yaani.
Johor Amanah is also fielding two women candidates, namely women's wing chief Anis Afida Mohd Azli for the parliamentary seat of Parit Sulong, and state women's wing chief Norhayati Bachok for the state seat of Maharani.
Others include Johor Amanah deputy chief Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad for Kota Iskandar, vice chief Sulaiman Mohd Nor for Kemelah, and secretary Khairuddin A Rahim for Senggarang. - Mkini
