WILL UMNO SACK RAFIDAH: FORMER WANITA CHIEF THROWS HER SUPPORT BEHIND MAHATHIR AGAINST NAJIB – ‘IT’S THE ONLY CREDIBLE WAY TO STOP THE ROT’

Former minister Rafidah Aziz has made it clear that she has no intentions of contesting in the coming general election.

However, she endorsed the campaign led by her former boss Dr Mahathir Mohamad to unseat the ruling coalition.

As for her critical views concerning caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s administration, Rafidah reiterated that she is voicing out as a concerned citizen.

“I am not contesting anything.

“I am just a concerned citizen supporting the efforts to put things right and to stop the slide of the country.

“The collective effort led by Mahathir, to me, is the only credible way to stop the rot. The different parties have set aside their differences, even their party logos, to unite for their common cause.

“That is laudable. They are multiracial, as Malaysians, and working for the good and interests of Malaysians,” she told Malaysiakini.

Pakatan Harapan parties – including the oldest of the four DAP – have agreed to contest under a common logo for the coming general election.

This is the first time since the 1969 general election, DAP would not be using its iconic “rocket” logo in Peninsular Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Rafidah said she is happily retired from direct participation in politics as well as a card-carrying member of any party.

“But I have every right to speak and to ensure truth and right prevail.

“Again, I must invoke God Almighty each time I speak to ensure I say it as it is. Not merely to any particular gallery.

“We all are subject to the Almighty’s will. Forget the Almighty’s ultimate power and us puny humans will face his retribution.

“That is why I always invoke Allah SWT. I pray for Allah SWT to save our country for the young generation and generations after them,” added the former Wanita Umno chief.
