KUALA LUMPUR: The actions of a man, believed to be a foreigner, who was seen washing vegetables inside a water tank have sparked widespread public outrage after the footage went viral on social media.
In the video, uploaded on Facebook by user HJ Ahmad Shafie on Saturday, the man was shown standing inside the tank while cleaning spinach, raising serious concerns over hygiene standards and food safety.
The person recording the video could be heard reprimanding the man, questioning the cleanliness of the vegetables.
The clip has since garnered almost five million views. The New Straits Times has reached out to the uploader for details on the location of the incident, but no response has been received at the time of writing.
Netizens expressed anger in the comments section. One user, Hadi Said, urged authorities to monitor such practices.
"Where's the owner? I hope the authorities monitor practices like this. This is wrong — it's filthy and doesn't follow hygiene standards at all," he said.
Another user, Suraimi Omar, called for immediate action.
"Find this place and take action against those responsible," he added. - NST
