Party president Syukri Razab says the party's priority is to offer voters a broader range of choices after the formation of various alliances since the 2022 general election.

Bersama president Syukri Razab said the party respected the intentions of those seeking to negotiate seats ahead of the election.
However, he said the party believed its priority was to offer voters a broader range of political choices after they had evaluated the performance of parties and coalitions formed since the last election.
Bersama was taken over by former PKR leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad last month. They said this week the party would contest the Johor polls.
Syukri said the party’s main priority now “is to open up more choices for voters after they have seen and assessed for themselves the performance of the parties and political coalitions formed after the last election”.
Speaking to FMT, Syukri expressed concern over attempts to forge electoral understandings, saying such pacts could lead to a repeat of “compromises made in the past, which the public has already evaluated”.
He did not elaborate on the compromises made nor the public’s response to such concessions.
“Bersama remains firm in its position to participate in the Johor state election on a solo basis and places full confidence in the wisdom of voters to make their choice,” he said.
Earlier today, Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil said the party planned to hold discussions with Bersama to avoid seat overlaps involving Pakatan Harapan component parties.
Faiz said Amanah welcomed Bersama’s decision to contest the election and had received the party leadership’s blessing to pursue negotiations. - FMT
