UMNO AGM | Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan said the party's decision to remain in the coalition government was a strategy to prevent a repeat of “Pakatan Harapan 1.0”.
According to the foreign minister, a certain party is unhappy with Umno for preventing them from getting their way in the government and tried to pressure Umno into exiting the current federal administration.
"Because we have blocked some of the things they wanted to do (in the government). Whenever they try to do something, Umno would object in the cabinet and it would not get the cabinet's permission.
"This has made them very angry, and this was made worse by their failure to win any seat in Sabah.
"So, various efforts were made to provoke and rile up Umno, with the hope that we would exit the government in anger. If we had done this, they would be celebrating now.
"Then we would see the return of Harapan 1.0, where they would be able to do whatever they wish as no other people would object to them," Mohamad said.

While the Rembau MP did not name anyone, it was understood that he was referring to DAP.
DAP was a part of the Harapan government under Dr Mahathir Mohamad leadership between 2018 and 2020, and it had also sustained a major defeat in the recent Sabah state election where it lost all eight of its contests.
Act smart
Mohamad cited several past incidents that were allegedly a result of Harapan being at the helm of the government without Umno to intervene.
These include the sale of several government strategic assets, including Khazanah's IHH Healthcare Bhd and a land plot in Kuala Lumpur that was owned by Tabung Haji.
The Umno leader alleged that IHH was sold not for money but because it was established to employ Malay medical specialists.

"Do we want to see a repeat of all these events? This is why we need to think before making a decision and act smart.
"So we can prevent ourselves from falling in the same hole twice. Just ignore whatever names the people call us, Umdap or whatever, all these were created to make us angry.
"So what? Like what Datuk Jo (Johari Abdul Ghani) said just now, why should we fear DAP? We don't have to fear them. Umno had united the Malays before and together we kicked out the British.
"If DAP can scare us, I don't know what to say anymore," he said.
