PETALING JAYA:
The price of diesel in West Malaysia will be reduced by 85 sen from tomorrow, while RON97 petrol and unsubsidised RON95 will go down by 25 sen and 15 sen, respectively, nationwide.

In a statement, the finance ministry said the price of RON97 would be fixed at RM4.85 per litre, down from the current RM5.10 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of unsubsidised RON95 will decrease from RM4.02 per litre to RM3.87 per litre.

The price of diesel in West Malaysia will be fixed at RM5.12 per litre, down from RM5.97 per litre.

Subsidised RON95 petrol under the BUDI95 programme will remain at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan stays at RM2.15 per litre.

Subsidised petrol under the subsidised petrol control system (SKPS) will remain at RM2.05 per litre, while subsidised diesel under the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) will remain at RM2.15 per litre.

These prices are effective until April 29.

The ministry said the price reductions follow a decrease in global oil prices, though it pointed out that prices were still high compared with prior to the Iran war.

“Although global oil prices have reduced, uncertainty in the energy market remains and a full recovery of supply will not take place immediately.

“There are also disruptions to production facilities in West Asia while the global supply chain needs time to stabilise,” it said.

Nonetheless, it said the government will continue taking prudent steps to ensure that Malaysians do not fully bear the impact of rising global oil prices. - FMT
