Party calls for police and MCMC to act over the claims levelled against Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Describing the posts as a coordinated attack on Sim’s reputation, Kua Jack Seng, the political secretary to the premier, said SUPP is seeking an investigation under Sections 499 and 500 of the Penal Code for defamation, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.
Kua said the posts were baseless and “clearly disseminated with malicious intent, aimed at creating negative perceptions and damaging the reputation of a Sarawak leader”.
“This is a clear abuse of digital platforms and cannot be tolerated,” the Engkilili SUPP chief said after lodging the report at the Satok police station in Kuching today, according to Dayak Daily.
He also called for the matter to be referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for digital forensic analysis to trace the sources, and to facilitate content removal and prosecution.
Borneo Post reported Kua as saying the two Facebook posts were believed to have been published by accounts named “BB Channel’s Big Brother” and “Ken Lim Ken Lim”.
He said he first came across the posts at about 9pm last Friday and that they remained accessible the following day, prompting the party to lodge the report. - FMT
