EC meeting on June 12 to fix dates for Johor polls, not Negeri Sembilan

 The Election Commission says discussions on the Negeri Sembilan state election will only be held at a later date.

The EC said it was informed about the Johor assembly’s dissolution on Tuesday, followed by the Negeri Sembilan legislature’s dissolution today.

The Election Commission will meet on June 12 to fix the dates for the Johor state election, though discussions on the Negeri Sembilan polls will only be held at a later date.

The EC said it was informed about the Johor assembly’s dissolution on Tuesday, followed by the Negeri Sembilan legislature’s dissolution today.

In a statement, EC secretary Khairul Shahril Idrus said a press conference on the Johor election’s key dates will be held after the commission’s meeting next Friday.

Separately, EC chairman Ramlan Harun said the meeting to discuss the key dates for the Negeri Sembilan state election would only be held “on a date to be informed later”.

The dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan assembly is being disputed by the state’s four undangs, who contend that the menteri besar must also obtain their agreement, alongside the Yang di-Pertuan Besar’s, to dissolve the assembly. - FMT
