PETALING JAYA:
PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari has taken a dig at Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, claiming their alliance for the Negeri Sembilan state election is already fraying at the seams even before polling day.

Amirudin cited BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s call for PAS’s Sanusi Nor to stay away from the campaign trail following the PN election director’s controversial remarks at a ceramah.

PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar later dismissed Zahid’s statement, insisting that Sanusi was free to continue participating in the campaign for the Aug 1 polls.

“Do you recall seeing anything similar when BN and Pakatan Harapan split the seats to avoid clashes (in state polls) previously?

“They’re already causing a commotion when they’re still at the ‘talking stage’. They’re not even ‘married’ yet,” the PH election director said in a post on the social media platform Threads.

Under their electoral pact for the Negeri Sembilan polls, BN is contesting 25 seats while PN is contesting the remaining 11 seats.

BN’s federal ally, PH is going solo and contesting all 36 seats, while PN component Bersatu has fielded 24 candidates under its own banner, setting up clashes with the opposition coalition.

A simple majority of 19 seats is needed to form the state government while winning 24 seats will give a party a two-thirds majority in the Negeri Sembilan state legislative assembly. - FMT
