3 students nabbed after assaulting schoolmate

 Police say the victim, a student at a school in Ampang, was accused of disturbing the girlfriend of one of the suspects.

The incident was recorded by another student before the video was circulated in a WhatsApp group and later uploaded to Facebook, said police.

Police have arrested three secondary school students who allegedly assaulted a schoolmate, after a video of the incident went viral.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said an initial investigation found that the incident occurred at about 12.30pm yesterday under a staircase at Block F of the Sri Nilam flats in Ampang.

He said the incident was sparked by claims that the victim had disturbed the girlfriend of one of the suspects.

The victim was allegedly led to the location by another student before the three suspects assaulted him.

“The suspects slapped the victim in the face and kicked him in the body,” Azam said in a statement, adding that all those involved were under 18 years old and attended the same school.

The case is being investigated under Sections 147 and 507B of the Penal Code for rioting and bullying, respectively. - FMT
