Anwar heads to Negri Sembilan tomorrow amid tight poll predictions

GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today declined to comment on the Negri Sembilan election.

When approached by reporters after the official opening of Fort Cornwallis here and asked for his assessment of the state polls with a week remaining before polling day, Anwar did not respond directly.

"I have not been there (recently). I will only go there tomorrow," he said briefly.

According to Vodus Research's latest forecast, Pakatan Harapan leads the statewide popular vote with 42 per cent, followed by Barisan Nasional at 35 per cent, while Perikatan Nasional trails at seven per cent.

The survey also found PH and BN locked in a close race, with BN leading in more clear-cut seats while PH holds an advantage in closely contested constituencies.

According to Vodus Research founder Dr Kelvin Goh, the current model projects PH winning 17 seats, BN 15 and PN two, with two additional BN-PH contests remaining unresolved.

A simple majority requires 19 of the 36 seats, meaning neither PH nor BN has secured enough to form the state government. - NST
