N SEMBILAN POLLS | Bersatu has vowed to create 50,000 high-income jobs within five years and establish a RM100 million affordable housing fund if it forms the Negeri Sembilan government after the Aug 1 polls.
Launching the “Bersatu Demi Nismilan” manifesto today, party president Muhyiddin Yassin said it contained 76 pledges under nine pillars covering governance, the economy, tourism, agriculture, education, youth, women, Felda and public welfare.
Muhyiddin said the manifesto was drawn up with consideration for different segments of society, the state’s strengths and Adat Perpatih.
“This offer reflects Bersatu’s unwavering commitment to defending the welfare of the people of Negeri Sembilan and demonstrates that we are ready to govern the state,” he said.
‘No one left behind’
The Bersatu president believes the proposals were achievable and intended to benefit all residents.
“I wish to stress that the Bersatu Demi Nismilan manifesto is implementable.
“It covers everyone, from children, students, young people, entrepreneurs and women to senior citizens. No one will be marginalised. No one is left behind,” he said to party leaders and members gathered at Bersatu’s main election operations centre in Nilai today.
Among the main economic pledges is the creation of jobs in high-technology agriculture, tourism, semiconductors, green energy, electric vehicles and artificial intelligence, including through Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0.
Bersatu also proposed a RM5 million 'Nismilan Niaga Prihatin' fund to provide interest-free microloans and digital training to small businesses.
Registered traders at local council-owned morning, farmers’ and night markets would receive a full rental exemption for two years, while those at selected food courts and public markets would receive a 50 percent discount.
Ensuring roof over rakyat’s heads
On housing, the party proposed a RM100 million fund for affordable homes, including a rent-to-own scheme, and assistance of up to RM5,000 for first-time buyers.
A further RM15 million would be allocated to maintain homes in traditional villages, low-cost public housing and state-owned flats.
For Felda communities, Bersatu promised to push for the completion of abandoned housing projects, provide residential land for second-generation settlers and address land inheritance, infrastructure and clean water issues.
As for healthcare, Bersatu pledged a RM25 million critical illness fund for patients with cancer, heart disease, stroke and kidney disease, as well as a RM10 million fund for takaful protection and basic treatment.
Senior citizens aged 60 and above would receive RM300 annually, while bereavement assistance of RM500 would also be provided.
In education, the party proposed a RM25 million higher education fund, a RM20 million school infrastructure fund and assistance of up to RM2,500 for students purchasing laptops or learning devices.
Other pledges include monthly transport assistance for 2,000 students, RM3,000 annual grants for parent-teacher associations and transforming Kolej Yayasan Negeri Sembilan into an international-level TVET institution.
Benefits for youth and women
For youth, Bersatu proposed startup funding of up to RM50,000, a digital skills hub, motorcycle maintenance and insurance assistance for p-hailing riders, and training for 500 tour guides and 500 licensed drone pilots.
Newlyweds in need would receive RM500.
Women entrepreneurs would be eligible for grants of up to RM15,000, while mothers who recently gave birth would receive RM250 and eligible single mothers RM1,000 annually.
On governance, Bersatu pledged to enact a law guaranteeing equal annual allocations for all state assemblypersons, regardless of political affiliation.
It also proposed a special committee to monitor the implementation of the manifesto and a review of allowances for customary chiefs.
Muhyiddin said Bersatu was confident the pledges could be delivered “quickly, efficiently and transparently” if given the mandate to govern.
The Negeri Sembilan election marks Bersatu’s first major electoral outing as a standalone party following its fallout with PAS and growing estrangement from Perikatan Nasional.
The party is fielding 24 candidates across the state’s 36 seats, including two from Urimai, who are contesting on Bersatu tickets. - Mkini
