Bersatu vows equal funding for all Negeri Sembilan reps

Bersatu has pledged to introduce a law guaranteeing equal annual allocations for all Negeri Sembilan assemblymen regardless of party, as part of its manifesto for the Aug 1 state election.

The manifesto also promises a special committee comprising community and professional representatives to monitor the implementation of its pledges, as well as stronger welfare support and formal recognition for adat territorial chiefs, including a review of their allowances.

Among its biggest spending commitments are a RM100 million Rumah Rakyat affordable housing fund, including a rent-to-own scheme; a RM25 million critical illness fund covering cancer, heart disease, stroke and kidney disease; and a RM25 million education fund offering RM500 to RM1,500 in aid for students entering tertiary education.

Other promises include a two-year rental exemption for morning market, farmers’ market and night market traders; the creation of 50,000 high-income jobs over five years; RM300 annual aid for senior citizens aged 60 and above; and a 15% increase in monthly allowances for imams, bilals, siak and mosque assistants.

The manifesto, with the theme “Tawaran Bersatu Demi Nismilan”, was launched by Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin at a ceremony in Nilai today. It contains pledges on governance, the economy, tourism, agriculture, education, youth, women, Felda and public welfare.

Bersatu said it plans to upgrade Kolej Yayasan Negeri Sembilan into an international-standard TVET institution with free places for eligible Negeri Sembilan residents.

The party also pledged to push the federal government to complete the long-delayed Felda Generasi Baharu housing project in Negeri Sembilan and expedite the construction of a new hospital in Bandar Enstek.

Bersatu is contesting 24 seats under its own logo, although it remains a member of Perikatan Nasional, while the PAS-led PN is contesting 11 seats under an electoral pact with Barisan Nasional, which is contesting the remaining 25 seats, with no overlap.
