Johor police say the 37-year-old suspect has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation under the Sedition Act 1948, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and the Penal Code.

Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said police received a report at about 12.40am from a man who alleged that a viral post had been uploaded by the owner of the Facebook account “Fadzil Zahari”.
He said a preliminary check revealed that the account owner had shared several screenshots uploaded by “Parthiban Ragu”, which allegedly contained material insulting Islam and obscene and offensive remarks directed at Allah and Prophet Muhammad.
“Acting on the information, police arrested a 37-year-old man in Iskandar Puteri at about 1am,” he said in a statement.
He said police also confiscated two mobile phones from the suspect who did not have a criminal record.
The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, as well as Section 298 of the Penal Code. - FMT
