Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said preliminary investigations found that the victim, a woman in her 20s, had booked an e-hailing ride to Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2.
"During the journey, the suspect allegedly asked the victim to sit in the front passenger seat before touching her right thigh twice without her consent.
"The victim then got out of the vehicle. The suspect, a man in his 40s, has been identified and had his statement recorded to facilitate investigations," he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
Upon conviction, the offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of the punishments.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer at the Sepang police headquarters or any nearby police station. - NST
