Call it ‘Perikatan Barisan Nasional’, Hamzah says on PN-BN pact

 Wawasan president says PN has agreed for BN to lead the Negeri Sembilan government if their electoral pact wins the Aug 1 state election.

Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin said the proposed term aims to reduce confusion over the BN-PN electoral pact for the Negeri Sembilan state election.

Parti Wawasan Negara president Hamzah Zainudin has proposed naming the electoral cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) “Perikatan Barisan Nasional”.

Hamzah said the proposed name would reduce confusion among supporters of PN and BN component parties over the electoral understanding formed ahead of the Negeri Sembilan election.

“We want to give it a name so people are no longer confused. In Negeri Sembilan, we’re starting with Perikatan Barisan Nasional because many find the term ‘PN-BN’ hard to understand,” he said after a ceramah in Felda Bukit Rokan last night.

He said the proposal would be discussed with the party leaderships before any final decision is made.

Under the informal electoral pact, BN is contesting 25 seats and the PAS-led PN 11 seats in the Aug 1 polls, with no overlap.

Bersatu, despite remaining part of the coalition after its split from PAS, has broken away to contest 24 seats under its own logo.

The informal pact is up against Pakatan Harapan (PH), which is contesting all 36 seats up for grabs.

Hamzah said PN had agreed that BN would lead the Negeri Sembilan government if their informal electoral pact wins the state election.

The opposition leader also acknowledged that the arrangement was not fully understood by grassroots members of either coalition because of past disputes between them.

“At the early stage, there were indeed some who felt disappointed because of past problems, but that can be resolved when we meet.

“That’s why the BN-PN meeting was held early, so that after this we can go down and work hard and explain to voters what we want to do,” he said. - FMT
