Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim can dismiss the eight BN ministers if he is unhappy with them, said BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid (above), who is also deputy prime minister, said he saw no reason for any of BN’s eight ministers to resign after Anwar warned that those who attack their government colleagues while campaigning in the state election should step down.
“But my answer is this: there’s no need to order people to resign because the prime minister is the one who appointed ministers and deputy ministers.
“If he doesn’t like us, just sack us. But he wouldn’t have the heart. All of us work very hard,” Free Malaysia Today reported him as saying at an event in Negeri Sembilan.
BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied rumours that there was a meeting between the party, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, and opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional.
"There was none, I don't know. I have no idea about this. I also checked with the home minister and other sources; all either said they do not know or that there is none," he told the media after an event in Cyberjaya earlier today.
According to Berita Harian, Zahid's denial came after a message went viral on social media claiming that the parties would hold a press conference at 2pm today.
The Umno president also gave his assurance that BN would maintain its support for the unity government until the end of its term.
Self-proclaimed land activist Tamim Dahri Abd Razak has pleaded not guilty to a charge of damaging a soolam, a sacred trident symbol of Hindu worshippers, at the former site of a temple in Langkawi.
According to Berita Harian, the 34-year-old man was accused under Section 295 of the Penal Code at the Langkawi Magistrate’s Court this morning.
Tamim was accused of committing the offence between 3.30pm and 6.30pm on March 8. The offence is punishable with imprisonment of not more than two years, or with a fine, or both.
The court allowed Tamim, who surrendered to police on Saturday after returning from overseas, to be bailed with an RM10,000 bond and two sureties. It also ordered him to surrender his passport to the court.

MCA Youth Information Chief Neow Choo Seong said the government’s consideration of a dedicated federal fund and tax incentives for stray animal welfare is a positive step, but more concrete measures are needed.
In a statement today, he said registered animal shelters that have long supported stray animals should receive more assistance, including maintenance grants, subsidies for animal feed, discounted utility tariffs, possible exemptions from assessment rates, and tax deductions for sponsors and donors.
He also called for matching grants to encourage greater support from public and private sectors.
Neow also urged local authorities to help volunteers operating shelters register them, and called for greater federal and state funding for Trap-Neuter-Release programmes, including sterilisation, vaccination and public education efforts.
