Foreign minister Mohamad Hasan says immigration procedures are being simplified at eight checkpoints that travellers must clear on a return trip.

Mohamad said there were eight immigration checkpoints that travellers needed to clear on a return trip. Streamlining of procedures was among the issues discussed at an inter-government meeting between Malaysia and Brunei held in Bandar Seri Begawan.
He said technical committees of the two countries have been directed to identify the most effective way to ease cross-border travel, Dayak Daily reported.
About 50% of outstanding issues related to the land boundary between the two countries had been resolved, particularly those involving boundary demarcation on the ground.
“The demarcation would be aligned with the 2009 terms of reference and findings from the technical committee’s field assessments, which would then form the basis for finalising the land boundary between Malaysia and Brunei,” he was quoted as saying.
Mohamad said that issues related to the cooperation between Petronas Carigali and Brunei’s oil company had been resolved, with gas production from the Kledang deepwater exploration project expected to commence in early 2029. - FMT
