Woman with hidden tank in car nabbed at petrol station

 Ministry official says the case in Padang Besar is being investigated for unlawful possession of a controlled item.

PETALING JAYA:

A 29-year-old woman was detained at a petrol station in Padang Besar, Perlis, yesterday after she was found to have an additional tank in her car believed to store subsidised petrol.

Perlis domestic trade and cost of living ministry director Rohaida Hassan said the woman was detained at about 8.30pm by eight enforcement officers as part of a week-long surveillance operation.

She said an inspection of the vehicle revealed the hidden tank.

“We seized 130 litres of petrol worth an estimated RM258.70 and the vehicle,” Buletin TV3 quoted her as saying.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for unlawful possession of a controlled item, which carries a fine of up to RM1 million or three years’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction. - FMT
