The ministry said the devices had yet to be approved by the Medical Device Authority (MDA), noting that all medical devices sold or used in Malaysia must be registered with the authority under the Medical Device Act 2012 (Act 737).
"The sale, distribution or advertising of unregistered devices is an offence under the law and may result in enforcement action," the MOH said in a statement on X.
The post also featured a video clip linked to the sale of a hydrogen inhaler, which was claimed to be a remedy for heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.
It also warned the public to be wary of sales activities that deliberately target them with high-pressure tactics or emotional appeals.
"Members of the public are urged to check the registration status of any medical device on the MDA's official website before purchasing to avoid the risk of fraud or adverse effects.
"The public can lodge complaints about the sale of unregistered devices or misleading advertisements with the MOH or MDA, and must remain vigilant and seek advice from registered medical practitioners on health matters," it added. -- BERNAMA
