PETALING JAYA:
A 52-year-old Malaysian whose family had been seeking funds to bring him home from Turkey after he fell into a coma in Istanbul has died.

In a Facebook post, DAP’s R Rajiv said Chin Yun Hin died at 5.30pm.

“We sincerely thank everyone who responded so quickly, contributed, shared the appeal, and offered assistance,” the Bukit Gasing assemblyman wrote.

He said there was no longer a need to raise funds.

This afternoon, it was reported that Chin had developed a fever while transiting in Istanbul on his way home from England earlier this month.

He was prevented from flying home when his fever persisted, with doctors suspecting a lung-related condition.

His brother, Yein Meng, said the family needed between RM500,000 and RM700,000 to bring him home in an air ambulance. His hospital treatment and medication in Turkey would incur additional costs, he said. - FMT
