The ministry attributed the increase to continued disruption to oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz linked to the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran, as well as a Ukrainian strike on a Russian oil refinery.
“As long as the conflict in West Asia remains unresolved and the flow of petroleum through the Strait of Hormuz has not returned to normal, petroleum product prices are expected to continue fluctuating significantly,” it said.
The ministry urged the public to continue to use fuel prudently, plan their journeys more efficiently, and reduce unnecessary travel to help conserve the nation’s fuel supply and ease pressure on subsidy expenditure. - FMT
