Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Pandak Ahmad, who visited the scene today, described the incident as disrespectful and unacceptable, particularly during the National Day month.
He said the authorities, particularly the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) and police, should take immediate action if investigations found that the flags had been deliberately displayed incorrectly.
"I received a complaint about a factory in the SILC area, here, which displayed the flags upside down.
"This is extremely disrespectful and unacceptable. I urge the authorities to take firm action on the matter," he said in a social media post today.
Pandak said the Jalur Gemilang and Johor flag should not be treated lightly as both represented the dignity, sovereignty and identity of the country and state.
He said it was particularly disappointing as the National Day is scheduled to be celebrated on Aug 31, when Malaysians were displaying the Jalur Gemilang as a show of patriotism.
"Malaysia has been independent for almost 69 years, yet there are still parties who appear to deliberately create discord and show little patriotism.
"If it was indeed done deliberately, this is no longer a matter of mistakenly putting up a flag, but a matter of respecting the country and state where we earn our livelihood," he said.
Pandak also urged the factory management to take the matter seriously and ensure that all flags on its premises were displayed correctly.
He said firm action was necessary to prevent similar incidents and serve as a lesson to all parties to respect the national and state symbols.
The incident came a day after a Kulai factory was ordered to close temporarily over a similar flag blunder, with a security guard and a woman arrested in connection with the case.
