Putrajaya has no plans to increase GST rate after GE

PARLIAMENT | Putrajaya has no plans to raise the GST rate from the current six percent after the next general election, said Deputy Finance Minister Othman Aziz.
"Perhaps some quarters have proposed this for particular reasons.
“But for the time being, the government has no plans to review or increase the rate in the future,” he told the Dewan Rakyat when winding up the Finance Bill 2017.
He was responding to Wong Chen (PKR-Kelana Jaya) who asked him to confirm if the World Bank has proposed that the GST rate be increased to seven percent.
"With due respect, I have not read it (World Bank's proposal) myself and I am not sure about it. Maybe some have suggested this, but as far as we are concerned, we stick to the six percent rate," said Othman.
