Now-former Mersing Bersatu chief Alwiyah Talib maintains that her resignation was voluntary and not influenced by others.

The now-former Mersing Bersatu chief said she decided to rejoin Umno for the sake of the future of Endau constituents, Sinar Harian reported.
Alwiyah maintained that her resignation was voluntary and not influenced by others.
“I hereby announce my departure from Bersatu and resignation from all party posts effective immediately as I rejoin Umno,” she was quoted as saying.
Alwiyah was first elected Endau assemblyman in 2018 with a 3,030-vote majority when she was still in Umno.
However, after Barisan Nasional fell out of power at the federal level and in Johor, she left Umno to join Bersatu.
She was re-elected to a second term in the 2022 Johor polls on a Perikatan Nasional ticket, defeating her closest rival from Umno by 3,041 votes. - FMT
