'Self-inflicted betrayal' led to MyKhas portal ban, PKR leader tells Rafizi-aligned MPs

PKR deputy secretary-general Bryan Ng has defended the government’s move to restrict access to the MyKhas portal, which manages parliamentary allocations, to the Petaling Jaya and Subang MPs.

In a statement, he said Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya) and Wong Chen (Subang) lost access to the platform as a result of their own “self-inflicted betrayal”, referring to the duo’s known political alignment with former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

Ng said Putrajaya reserves the right to manage its public funds through “recognised, loyal channels” and not allow them to be weaponised by representatives showing “clear signs of defection” to a newly formed rival party.

“If Lee and Wong wish to operate as de facto opposition lawmakers, they are free to do so through independent community fundraising, just as opposition members historically have.

“But they will not do so using the administrative machinery and public funds of the government they are actively working to undermine.

“The welfare of the people of Subang and Petaling Jaya remains safe, secure, and fully prioritised under direct government supervision. The only thing being disrupted is individual political manoeuvring,” he added.

Yesterday, Lee claimed that he had lost access to MyKhas. This came about a week after Wong’s office suffered the same.

The duo were among six PKR lawmakers who attended an event where Rafizi and former PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced their takeover of Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama).

Malaysiakini has also reached out to Wong and Lee for comment and is awaiting their response.

Ban based on ‘principles’

In his statement, Ng said the suspension of MyKhas access to Lee and Wong was neither selective persecution nor an administrative oversight.

Instead, it was an act based on fundamental principles, discipline, and basic political accountability.

“It is the direct institutional consequence of their own political choices.

“You cannot actively choose to align with a platform built to overthrow the government, and simultaneously demand that the very same government hand over state resources.” - Mkini
