The Malaysians secure an easy win over English shuttlers Ben Lane-Sean Vendy in their last 16 match.

The world No 8 Malaysian pair, who had lost to the 11th-ranked English shuttlers in their last two encounters, took just 30 minutes to win 21-11, 21-13 in their last 16 match at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
They will face India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan-MR Arjun in the quarter-finals tomorrow, after the 30th-ranked duo defeated Malaysia’s Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing 21-16, 15-21, 19-21 in 48 minutes.
Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin will be hoping to be second time lucky at this venue in Jakarta after capturing the Indonesia Masters in January, their only title so far this year.
Separately, women’s singles shuttler K Letshanaa’s run in the tournament came to an end in the second round after losing to top Japanese player and world No 3 Akane Yamaguchi.
The 31st-ranked Malaysian went down fighting 15-21, 18-21 in a match that lasted 39 minutes. Akane has now beaten Letshanaa twice in as many meetings.
In a mixed doubles second round match, world No 28 pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing fell to Thailand’s world No 3 duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran 14-21, 22-24 in 37 minutes. - FMT
