The opposition says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim should be given time to recover from his surgery so he can table the document.

The opposition coalition’s chief whip, Takiyuddin Hassan, said the sitting should be convened at a later date to allow Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to recover from surgery.
Takiyuddin said since the Tabung Haji issue is of public interest and an important matter, PN is of the view that Anwar himself should table the report.
“The prime minister’s attendance is of great significance.
“It is not just vital in terms of accountability and transparency, but to ensure that a comprehensive explanation is provided to the public,” he said in a statement.
Earlier today, Bernama reported that religious affairs minister Zulkifli Hasan will table the report. Zulkifli also said that he, along with finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan, would wind up the debate on the report.
Anwar underwent an elective laparoscopic surgery to treat an abdominal hernia and is currently undergoing physiotherapy.
The RCI report on the pilgrims’ fund was declassified and released to the public on July 29, some four years after the commission completed it in July 2022.
It found serious weaknesses in TH’s governance, investment, and financial management between 2014 and 2020, and recommended a major overhaul, including tighter oversight, forensic audits of selected investments, and limits on political involvement in the institution. - FMT
