
KULAI: A crash involving four lorries and two cars along the North-South Expressway here, which subsequently burst into flames, is believed to have claimed several lives.
The accident occurred at about 8am on the southbound stretch between Sedenak and Kulai, resulting in the carriageway being obstructed and causing heavy congestion.
Authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties, although fatalities are feared.
Pictures and videos circulating online showed several lorries and cars engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd, in an initial traffic advisory, said the incident was causing congestion in both directions.
Emergency responders are at the scene, with efforts underway to clear the affected stretch of highway.
