KUALA LUMPUR:
The much-awaited LRT3 Shah Alam line will begin operations on June 29.

Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the launch the day before.

“The opening ceremony for the LRT3 Shah Alam line will be officiated by the prime minister on Sunday. Operations will commence the following day,” he told reporters after launching the new road transport department (JPJ) branch office at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.

Spanning 37.8km, the line will connect Bandar Utama with Johan Setia in Klang.

It comprises 20 operational stations across Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang, with key stops such as Bandar Utama, Glenmarie 2, Stadium Shah Alam, UiTM Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Klang, Pasar Klang, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia.

Loke also said the new JPJ branch office at TBS will operate daily until 10pm.

He said the office was opened as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the delivery of public services that are more efficient, accessible and customer-oriented.

“The office, located on the third floor of TBS, was developed under JPJ’s first metropolitan operating model introduced in Kuala Lumpur.

“This approach gives the public greater flexibility to deal with the department at a time that suits them,” he said.

The office, which spans more than 14,000 sq ft, replaces the JPJ Bandar Sri Permaisuri office that had been operating since 2006. - FMT
