KUALA LUMPUR: A dashcam recording of an apparent road rage incident involving a pickup truck and a compact car on the North-South Expressway has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
The two-minute 43-second video, shared on the DashCam Malaysia Facebook page, purportedly shows a black Toyota Hilux using the emergency lane along the PLUS Expressway between Jawi and Bukit Tambun before abruptly cutting into the fast lane.
The manoeuvre appeared to result in minor contact with a silver Perodua Viva travelling in the right lane.
The Hilux was then seen tailing the Viva closely before the latter allegedly appeared to tap the rear bumper of the pickup truck in response to the earlier incident.
The situation escalated moments later when the Viva overtook several vehicles before returning to the fast lane directly in front of the Hilux.
Both vehicles were subsequently seen attempting to outmanoeuvre each other, with the Hilux repeatedly attempting to overtake and move ahead of the Viva.
The footage ended with both vehicles continuing their dangerous exchanges, raising concerns over the safety of other road users.
The incident drew hundreds of reactions online, with many users condemning the behaviour of both motorists, while others focused on the Hilux driver's alleged misuse of the emergency lane.
Facebook user Muhammad Musthakim Baharudin commented: "The Hilux had been driving recklessly from the very beginning. Well done to the Viva — I support the driver. You simply gave your signal and expected to cut in. Who do you think you are?"
Another user, Choy Kong Fatt, said: "The emergency lane is not for Hiluxes or any other vehicle."
Meanwhile, Maggi Macareena Magdelene commented: "That's really dangerous. Please keep your emotions under control." - NST
