KLANG: A 75-year-old man who was allegedly behind the wheel of a sports utility vehicle that killed two sisters and injured a teenager in Bandar Baru Klang last week is expected to be charged today with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
The restaurant owner will face a charge under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, which carries a jail term of between five and 10 years, and a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000.
Handcuffed and appearing composed, he was escorted to the court complex by investigating officers following a five-day remand order.
He will appear before magistrate A. Khartiyayini.
North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the women were aged 57 and 62.
The injured 17-year-old boy is the son of the younger deceased.
Vijaya said the vehicle had crashed into the three victims at Jalan Pekan Baru before speeding away.
The suspect was arrested at his restaurant and checks showed he has no prior criminal or narcotics record. - NST
