MBJB has issued a show-cause letter to the contractor and filed a police report over the matter, says state exco Jafni Shukor.

State housing and local government committee chairman Jafni Shukor said an internal probe by MBJB had identified the individuals involved as workers for a contractor appointed to manage stray dogs.
He said the contractor had been issued a show-cause letter for failure to comply with standard operating procedures and terms of appointment.
“MBJB has also filed a police report to facilitate further investigations by the authorities for negligence, misconduct, abuse of power or violation of the law,” Utusan Malaysia reported him as saying today.
Jafni said possible action against the contractor included suspension of operations, contract termination and blacklisting.
A video that recently went viral on social media triggered public outrage, as it showed CCTV footage of men in a pick-up truck deliberately running over a dog in a residential area in Puteri Wangsa.
Earlier today, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia called on the relevant authorities, including the Johor veterinary services department, police and MBJB, to launch a probe into the matter and identify those involved. - FMT
