Malaysian ‘sleuths’ piecing mystery of senior cop’s final moments prior to his fatal fall at ungodly hours

AGAINST the backdrop of previous “sudden deaths” while cases were being investigated, curious Malaysians began to point the finger at the police after news spread that a senior police officer died after he was believed to have fallen from a building in Section 14 Shah Alam early yesterday (May 20) morning.

In confirming the incident that took place at the 16-storey Vista Alam serviced apartment, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar revealed that the male officer was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Selangor police contingent headquarters.

“The Shah Alam district police headquarters control centre received information on the incident at about 3.07am this morning (May 20),” he pointed out in a statement.

“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene and the case has been classified as sudden death pending post-mortem results.”

This triggered immense speculations on cyberspace of potential criminal elements behind the cop’s death, notably he could have been “pushed down to cover up some serious cases that he was investigating” or that the “CCTV has suddenly malfunctioned”.

Below is an example of the curiosity level of Malaysians:

Who could blame them as it remains vivid the horrifying incident of deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais who was found in an oil drum filled with concrete in September 2015 while probing a corruption case.

Or more recently, that of 45-year-old Lim Ju Vynn, a deputy public prosecutor who was attached to the Customs Appeal Tribunal, who was found dead from self-strangulation on March 5, 2025 at his Putrajaya office.

Tracking the sequence of events, the Selangor Police’s Facebook page eventually featured the death of 42-year-old ASP Mohd Firdaus Safuan Abdul Rasib who had served the police force for 18 years “with his last posting at the CID of the Selangor police contingent headquarters”.

This was followed by Deputy Selangor Police Chief DCP Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan paying his last respects to Firdaus Safuan who was buried yesterday (May 20) following the conclusion of his post-mortem at the Bukit Rangin Perdana Islamic Cemetery in Kuantan.

As speculations were still rife on the senior cop’s “sudden death”, the Oriental Daily broke another piece of ‘disturbing’ news.

Apparently, sources have told the Chinese language media that the incident occurred while the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) was conducting a raid on an alleged khalwat (close proximity) case at the premises in question.

If indeed truthful, the JIPS operations division alongside several police officers “then raided a condominium unit in Section 14 Shah Alam at about 2.10am yesterday (May 20) morning to investigate complaints about immoral activities and relationships without legal ties”.

Herewith is what was reported by Oriental Daily courtesy of a translation by Sarawakian blogger Miri Edition:

Upon arrival at the location, the raiding officers knocked on the door several times and introduced themselves as police but there was no response from inside the house.

After waiting for almost an hour, the police found a key outside the unit and opened the iron bars of the main door to enter and conduct an inspection.

Upon successfully entering the premises, the police found that the house was dark and only found a woman alone in the living room.

The police then asked the woman to produce her identification documents with results of the check found that she is from Kapit, Sarawak.

Further inspection of the entire unit initially did not find any other individuals. However, while inspecting the balcony area in the kitchen, the police found a black chair with several pieces of clothing tied to the iron bars of the balcony.

The police then looked down to the bottom of the condominium and were shocked to find the body of a man lying on his back on the fifth floor of the building, believed to have fallen from the upper floor.

The police immediately called an ambulance and reported the incident to the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action.

Is there any link of the senior cop’s death to the man who fell from the said building? Has the mystery been unravelled? Even if there is any truth in the Oriental Daily report, kindly respect the deceased cop’s privacy at all cost and perhaps, consider the case closed. –  Focus Malaysia
