Police believe the accident was triggered by a motorcyclist crashing into the back of a car on the right lane, and others failing to avoid the collision.

The incident occurred at about 1am at Km246.4 of the East Coast Highway, near the turnoff to the Jabor toll plaza in Kuantan, Pahang, Bernama reported.
Che Sufian Che Ghani, 40, Hafiz Al Hakim Mazlan, 33, and Aizat Husni, 33, died at the scene, and Safawi Noh, 24, died while receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan.
Kuantan police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the crash is believed to have been caused by one of the motorcyclists crashing into the back of a car on the right lane.
“Several other motorcyclists failed to evade the motorcyclist and also crashed,” he said, adding that a 13-year-old passenger in the car suffered a minor injury while the driver was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving. - FMT
